Mid morning: Arrive in beautiful Glendalough, less than an hours drive from Dublin. This is our Tour Guide's most popular place of natural beauty.

If youre a fan of the Hollywood Blockbusters 'PS I Love You' and 'Braveheart' then you will now officially be on the set! You'll totally understand why Mel Gibson (an Irish passport holder!) chose the Wicklow mountains to be the HIghlands of Scotland and Glendalough to be the spot for the wedding scene. And then of course there are all the romantic scenes from 'PS I Love You'.

You'll hear of Celtic christianity and how our ancient ancestors transformed this little Island into the magical 'Isle of Saints & Scholars'. Stroll along the lakside paths and hikes; explore the ancient monastic city and its impressive ruins, high Celtic crosses and round Tower - all surrounded by dense forests in a deep valley

 

Lunchtime: Arrive in Kilkenny city. Roam the picturesque, windy and cobblestoned streets. Check out the gardens of Kilkenny castle or consider going inside and taking a tour of its palatial interior for a small optional fee. You have time to wander and find the Black Abbey or possibly go down to see the cathedral of Saint Canice. You'll have around 2.5 hours free in Kilkenny - plenty of time to have a gourmet lunch, checkout the Kilkenny design centre and a find a nice cosy pub and have a pint of Kilkenny in Kilkenny.

 

We'll return to Dublin via the homeland of hurling - the flat lush farmlands of County Kilkenny and County Carlow, stopping off for a final visit at the world famous Brown HIll Dolmen - an ancient pre-Celtic Burial edifice. The Dolmen is a megalithic portal tomb weighing an estimated 100 metric tonnes, reputed to be the heaviest in Europe. It was built between 4000 and 3000BC by the earliest inhabitants. A most interesting place.

 

5.30-6pm approx: Tour arrives back in Dublins fair city
