    ITINERARY

    Day 1: Dublin to Belfast

Leave Dublin's Paddy Palace at 8am and begin your adventures at Drogheda where youll see the preserved head of St. Oliver Plunkett (executed 1681) in St. Peters Cathedral. Cross the border at South Armagh. A fascinating evening in Belfast awaits.

Discover why Lonely Planet regard Belfast as one of the top 10 'Must-see' destinations on earth. We strongly recommend the world famous Black Taxi tour (optional) to view the Peace wall and political murals.

Tonight we'll stay in the charming University area downtown. Great nightlife and the peaceful & serene botanic Gardens are a short still away for those who feel like smelling the roses after an action packed day.

Day 2: Belfast to Historic Derry

A glorious touring day! Cruise the Beautiful North Coast. You'll see the Carrick-a-rede rope bridge (seasonal, consider crossing if you dare, for a small optional charitable donation to the National Trust, the registered UK charity that maintains the Bridge).

Then its the jackpot visit of the day - we will trace the footprints of Celtic Giants, walk the Giants Causeway! Ulsters #1 attraction since 2 million BC! A UNESCO world heritage site and the proud location of an estimated 60,000 hexagonal columns of Basalt rock formed by Cataclysmically violent volcanic eruptions a long long time ago! Your guide will wax lyrical about how our giant warrior hero - Fionn McCool - built it to fight of our cousins the pesky Scots. This is the story we much prefer by the way! Youll have plenty of time to take either the high road or low road hikes to this place of outstanding natural beauty.

Once sufficiently impressed we'll be off to take fantastic photos of Dunluce Castle - ancestral homne of the McDonnell clan, until its kitchen collapsed into the sea during a great feast in 1639 - killing many staff, who's ghosts are said to still linger in the ruins even to this day.

Overnight in Historic Derry. If you love history then you will be foaming at the mouth in this jewel of a city.  We stay downtown in the ancient streets. Amazing traditional music night in Peadar O'Donnells pub!

    Day 3: Derry to Galway

Begin today with a hearty breakfast and an excellent in-depth walking tour of Derry's walls (1601) with a local guide. Learn why the city is officisally knwon as Londonderry and thje story of the long bloody siege here in 1689. Your guide will take you down to the well known Bogside district, scene of the Bloody Sunday massacre in 1972 and inspiration for U2's classic anthem 'Sunday, Bloody Sunday'.

Drive through enchanting Sligo visiting the sacred grave of our national Poet, Nobel laureate WB Yeats. Explore the vast archaeological and cultural richness of Irelands North West Coast. Stop at Knock, Catholic Irelands vast pilgrimage site. Tonight youll overnight in Galway, Irelands party capital.  We'll find a cosy pub down in the latin quarter and sip Guinness to the beat of electrifying Irish music and the sweet sound of the Gaelic language.

    Day 4: Galway to Killarney
Today you will have the wild atlantic ocean by your side as we cruise down the West Coast. See beautiful beaches, golden sand, maybe even a few dolphins and whales. Run around the lunar landscape of the Burren – the only place on earth where Alpine, Arctic and Mediterranean flowers grow side by side – and hear your guide tell inspiring tales of how our ancestors overcame the horros of the reat Potato Famine of 1845-49, sending over a million of our ancestors to the 4 corners of the globe and in particular Britain and North.

Then it’s the irish crown jewels – THE CLIFFS OF MOHER! Gaze in awe at the majesty, you’ll see why they were the cliffs of insanity in the movie ‘The Princess Bride’ and why world surf champ Kelly Slater came to surf here last year for the award-winning cult surf movie ‘Wave-Riders’. We’ll cross the River Shannon in historic Limerick, the setting for Frank McCourts blockbuster book – Angelas Ashes.
Overnight in Killarney, our Tour-Guides favourite town because of the huge amount of activities on offer – traditional music, great restaurants, loads of dancing, an idyllic National Park with the entrance gate only a few hundred metres from our Downtown hostel! Enjoy the nightlife and try singing a few of the many songs your guide will have taught you on board the Paddywagon today!

    Day 5: Killarney to Dingle

Today we take a short drive to Dingle, a charming gaelic speaking fishing village. We'll have ample Free time in Dingle to shop and lunch and then it's off on a wonderfully pleasant tour around Slea Head. Loads of time off the bus to take some photos, maybe a wee hike or to just breathe in that wild Atlantic salty air!

Your guide will tell you all the stories and songs of this traditional region. Youll see Sleeping Giant Island and the famous 3 sisters mountain range. Tonight youll stay in your very own Irish pub, the Randy Leprechaun in Annascaul on the Dingle Peninsula. Mix with the locals and enjoy the characters of a genuine Irish small-village, away from all the tourist traps. Pull up a stool by the fire or choose to dance the night away!

    Day 6: Dingle to Dublin

Then youll cross the Cork & Kerry Mountains in our luxury Green Paddywagon and kiss the Blarney Stone, on top of Blarney Castle in the rebel county of Cork. Excellent gift shopping and one of the most famous tourist sites in all of Europe, an exposure to mass tourism but also a lot of genuine fun!
Kissing the Blarney stone isnt everyone's cup of tea, but as historians we encourage you to explore this castle, its dungeons, its caves and its hidden bedrooms - this castle is a genuine 12th century masterpiece. The McCarthy clan believed kissing the stone would give them the gift of eloquent speech of the gift of the gab. Whether you think you need it or not, kissing the stone by dangling off the 300 feet battlements being held by a middle-aged Irishman is surely too good an offer to turn down? ;)
After lunch we visit the beautiful Rock of Castle Dunamase in the Golden Vale, Ireland’s finest agricultural land with its rolling fields and pastures fresh, a lovelty place to reflect on the great 3 days youve just had.

You'll make your way up through the battle fields of "Braveheart" to Dublin for our grand finale - Visit phoenix Park, Europes largest! 5,000 Red Deer running wild, the Papal Cross and Aras an Uachtarain (the home of our beloved President Mary) and visit the Guinness Storehouse and complements of the Paddywagon team have a pint of the black stuff, a big creamy pint of Guinness! Incredible value for money

Paddywagon Tours is a household name in the 4 corners of Ireland, we have been featured hundreds of times on national Television, Radio and the print Media. The good people of Ireland welcome us to their parishes and villages with a great enthusiasm, come share that genuine enthusiasm, passion and warm welcome.
